Mental Health First Aid

Description
This over 9 hours training will give your employees the tools necessary to help them give initial support to a person who may be developing a mental health problem or is experiencing a psychological crisis.
It covers four common mental health issues: problems related to substance abuse, mood, anxiety and trauma and psychosis. Participants who complete this course will be prepared to confidently address mental health issues at work as well as with families, friends and in their communities.

Rima Jabbour
Rima Jabbour is a nurse who works as an occupational health specialist in the air traffic control field. She coordinates peer support programs for mental health, addiction and stress management following a critical incident. She believes education and prevention are the keys to reducing stigma and raising public awareness of mental health, allowing us, as a society, to change for the better.
Sarah Booker
Working for Montreal Youth Unlimited, Sarah Brooker specializes in empowering youth in the Greater Montreal area and is a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) facilitator with the Mental Health Commission of Canada. She has been involved with many different programs with Montreal Youth Unlimited, specifically Options resource center for unplanned pregnancy and young parenthood.
Sarah has a keen desire to see young families thrive and feel equipped as they navigate their role as a parent. Sarah’s unique creativity, desire to serve and her empathetic heart help her in the development and implementation of accessible parenting programs and curricula to meet the needs of Option’s clients and the community at large. Be it through mentorship, events, and workshops or through lending a listening ear, Sarah offers a non-judgemental source of support that is so crucial in these vulnerable years of early parenthood.
As a certified Mental Health First Aid facilitator, Sarah is passionate about equipping individuals with the tools they need to recognize and respond to mental health challenges with confidence and compassion. Through the nationally recognized MHFA program, Sarah provides training that breaks down stigma, builds understanding, and empowers people to support those around them. Her goal is to create safe spaces for learning and to give participants practical skills they can use in their workplaces, schools, and communities.
