Objectives and target audience


Description

Motivational Interviewing is an effective approach to help clients or patients find and maintain the motivation to make positive behavioral changes. Using Motivational Interviewing is a powerful method to overcome ambivalence and resistance to change.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain a better understanding of motivation.
  • Learn how to increase your clients' motivation to make positive behavior changes.
  • Learn how to help clients who do not have the desire to change.

Target audience

  • Anyone whose job requires motivating people to change their behaviour(s).

This training will allow members of certain professional orders to obtain continuing education units. Please contact your professional association for more details.

Jean-Marc Assaad, psychologist

Jean-Marc Assaad is a psychologist and the Director of training services for PsyMontréal and its sister company PsyVitaliti. He’s been offering motivational interviewing trainings for over 20 years. He is an excellent communicator who draws on the professional experience of the participants as well as his own as a psychologist to create a learning environment conducive to the transfer of knowledge and skills related to motivational interviewing.

Jean-Marc has authored many scientific publications on motivation and psychology as well as having presented his research at international conferences. A member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec, he obtained his Ph. D. in clinical psychology from McGill University, where he also taught.

There are essential trainings and this is one of them! And this is true for any professional. It teaches us how to better communicate and motivate our clients to change.
